On Monday, more than 600 NYC students visited the Schomburg Center to see the Emancipation Proclamation exhibition. Visitors were first taken to our Langston Hughes’ Auditorium to view a clip of Slavery and the Making of America (PBS) before they saw the documents in the Exhibition Hall.
Although the exhibition has ended, we’ve managed to capture visitors’ experiences—in both videos and photos. This is Kwesi of the Center School in NYC talking about his Emancipation experience.
Teachers and Parents: Download the Curriculum Guide to go with this amazing exhibition at: schomburgcenter.org/emancipation150.
Stay tuned for more video and photo highlights! — at Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library.
